Searching for the look and feel of this project has been a blast so far! This exploratory phase of finding the look of the characters is so important. What color is the right color? Do the characters look good together? What's the color palette of your project going to look like? So many tiny questions that need answers that could have a big impact.
Hey everyone! It's Olan once more.
It's been a fun week. I've sent the third draft to Ben (supervising director), who proceeded to give me an email so full of so many good notes it made me realize this script could be better! He sent a lot of thoughts I was already feeling, so I'm doing another pass to raise the emotion, the stakes, and the style of this short. I want this to be not good, not great, but amazing. That sometimes means throwing the script out and rebuilding with what works and scrapping what doesn't work. I do feel like it's getting better and better with each pass.
Remi is doing a great job with the character art so far. The next step is to do a new pass on the script, lock in the direction of the characters, and finish building the team. From there, we head into boarding.

I genuinely really like the style of the middle one. Red jacket, cute short hair, yellow bandana, gloves, long socks, everything. She looks serious and prepared for what this hard world throws at her as well as keeping a cute side to her. Her pallet is warm colors which also can mean that you should be cautious. Her blue high socks give her a cute side, personally I wear long socks not just for warmth but also since there is more room to show off my cool sock pictures! The other design isn’t necessarily bad but with her hair up she looses personality and the yellow is less of a piping color, unlike red. The yellow also doesn’t look quite as good when against the background image. Now her delightful companion. I truly like the design of the one in the middle. They seem to be the comfort character that will give you warmth and happiness throughout the perhaps serious and difficult times throughout the show. I really like the simple design in the middle. The orange is similar but not the same color pallet of the girl, it also looks like overalls which is a great plus! The shape of the body is also very squeezable, for plushy purposes. Also I adore the bunny like ears on top. The adorable glowing eyes and little mouth makes me imagine how many different faces it can create. Blue is also a fitting color to the uplifting color socks of the girl. I just want to squeeze and hug the little robot! Overall the middle design is beautiful, different, interesting and gives a far more desire to watch. Thank you for allowing me to write what I thought, however long it may be! :)

This is looking stellar, I love the colors on all the designs. Your ability to write amazes me! In my experience it’s so difficult, but seeing your determination and skill is really inspiring!
